AFTER WEDDING PORTRAITS, NEXT DAY COUPLE SESSION, ANNIVERSARY SESSIONS & RESHOOTS
6 Reasons why whether planned or not, days, years, or even decades later, you should put back on your wedding gown!
Kicking off with reason ONE | THE DRESS / FOR FUN (non-planned): Dom and Dianna were married at their property in Temecula, California (which they also offer to others as a venue) and years later we did a shoot after the wedding, celebrating their love stronger than ever, to have a blast and just to get some epic shots in her stunning dress.

TWO | QUALITY & QUANTITY (planned): An advantage of planning an after wedding couples session allows your photographer more time to work with you compared to your wedding day, resulting in more thoughtful, creative images and a greater number of photos overall.
THREE | TIME (planned): It allows you to spend more time with your friends and family on the wedding day, relieving the pressure of rushing back to your guests, especially if the schedule runs late. It also means you can fully participate in every aspect of the event without being pulled away for pictures.
FOUR | VARIETY (planned): The possibility of variety by going to a new or multiple locations or at least having the time to fully explore around an expansive one. If you had a large wedding but also wanted an adventurous elopement abroad, why not have your portraits taken at your dream destination? Or maybe you were undecided between two dresses; a second shoot is the perfect excuse to wear both. When doing an after shoot the possibilities in variety between wardrobe and locations are endless.
FIVE | CELEBRATE (non-planned): Is it your anniversary but not into a vow renewal? Or just love a chance to update images as it was so long ago since the big day - it's also another reason to do a post wedding session and wonderful way to celebrate your time together without all the fuss.
SIX | THE DO OVER (non-planned): Other reasons that aren't quite as fun, maybe you eloped with no photographer over the pandemic so there were no professional images taken at all, maybe the day didn't go as planned, or sadly you didn't get all the pictures you wanted on your wedding day. Things do happen, and if they do, then a couples after session can commemorate your love in a different way, any time and any place!

Honestly, if budget and logistics permit, I prefer scheduling a next-day couples session with my wedding clients rather than on the wedding day, for all the reasons mentioned above. Then on I only do a quick and more candid capturing for about 15 minutes on the wedding day, followed by a 2-hour or longer session after the wedding day. It makes the day run smoother, feel calmer. This is especially true for larger weddings, weddings with large wedding parties and/or multiple locations.
Final questions, is it worth it? Yes. How much more would it cost? Depends on the photographer, I would say on average it would add about 20% more to the overall wedding package.
If you are planning an elopement instead of wedding.... Well I have more suggestions for that, but I will save if for another blog :)
